About the Octopuff:

<sub>Octopuffs are born from cotton candy tree fluff, and thus bear some similarities to the Fluffbits.  They are palm-size at birth, but they can grow as large as a house cat.  Although they are made from candy fuzz, they don't become sticky or disintegrate when wet.  Unlike octopuses, they mostly live on land inside large tree trunks or caves, though some might live in underwater caves.  They always live in colonies, and build nests large enough to fit the entire colony, they will sleep in one huge snuggly pile.  They can breathe on both land and underwater.  They have very little organs, and no bones at all, making them nothing more than huggable tentacled pillows.  Octopuffs are herbivores though domesticated ones may also eat desserts and candy.  As their favourite food, fruit is regarded as sacred and is the greatest gift they can bestow on their loved ones.

Octopuffs are practically defenseless, and when frightened, they will puff out like fluffy balloons.  If there is a breeze it will carry them away from danger, though they have no ability to guide their direction.  Almost all Octopuffs have a curly antenna on their head to sense the weather.  This is extremely important, as thunderstorms are one of the worst things that can happen to the unprepared.  The claps of thunder will scare them and cause them to puff up, then the strong gusts of wind can carry them miles from home.  With a horrid sense of direction, they might never reunite with their colony, and then fall victim to predators.

They communicate by singing, though they don't make words, their voices sound like a soft flute echoing.  When someone is upset, they will snuggle with them and pet their face, while singing comfortingly.  It works well with other Octopuffs, but with humans, they occasionally smother them with their fluff.  They purr like cats, snuggle like bunnies, and lick like puppies.  And much like a puppy, they will follow their human owners everywhere.</sub>
