I never planned to be a part of deviantART in the beginning. I simply thought it was some neat free image hosting site without the down times and restrictions the other sites were prone to. It wasn't until 4 years later I heard about artist commissions, and being so broke I couldn't even get some new socks, I realized deviantART might actually be something worthwhile.
My real deviantART journey started August 29th, 2013, when I decided I'd try this commission thing: sarilain.deviantart.com/journa… . It seemed utterly stupid at the time. I'm a few years from thirty and couldn't even draw as well as kids half my age. Who would want some ugly scribbles from an old talentless person like me? So I practically cried when I recieved my first commission. Those 300 points might as well have been a million dollars. From then on, I continued working hard and doing my best to be noticed.
It's almost a year later, and I've gained over 17 thousand watchers. I now have the motivation to draw every day. I now have the hope that hey, I might actually be a professional artist someday. Now I know that it's fully possible to make a living from doing what makes me the happiest. And while I fully attribute my success to God's grace, I also know He placed deviantART in my life.
To me, deviantART is a blessing. dA has helped me gain my artistic confidence, exposed me to so many inspirations and fantastic people, and given me the ability to support myself with my own artwork. So happy birthday deviantART, and thank you so much for everything. I'm really excited and can't wait to see what the next year brings.
One of my biggest inspirations, I completely adore Melonkitten's work. I love the simplicity of her kittens, the soft watercolours, and just everything about her style. She's also a very sweet person and always encouraging me.
Cavea is simply amazing. I love her use of colour, adorable characters, and textures. If I could learn just a tiny bit of that, I'd be happy. She's also a kind and supportive person, thank you very much!
I especially love Fumuu's ponies with their huge eyes and playful poses. Everything in her gallery is so completely adorable, you should really check her out!
I'm sure most of deviantART has heard of Sushi Dogs by now, and for good reason. witchpaws is not only a fantastically adorable artist, but a huge inspiration with the success of her original species. I hope that some day soon, I may do the same!
I can't get enough of Piffi-adoptables's quirky characters. They are so imaginative and whimsical, and probably my current biggest inspiration. I love so much about Marie and Mile's art, good work you two!
I hope everyone has a lovely day! God bless you!
